Educational Support Services
Program Purposes & Goals
The Educational Support Services Program serves to meet the needs of students who require additional classroom support. Students receive extra instructional support in one on one or small group tutoring sessions. Specially trained educators support and encourage students on a regular basis in their academic studies by using teaching strategies which will provide the student with the tools necessary to succeed in the classroom and ultimately in the college environment.
Requirements for Program Admission
All student seeking admissions into the ESS program must first meet the regular admissions requirements. Some students will be required to attend the ESS program as a condition of the admissions process. Students on Academic Probation may be required to attend the ESS program as a condition of their probation. Students may be referred to the ESS program at any time during the school year. There is a fee for attendance in this program.
Program Description
ESS students receive extra instructional support during their study hall. Students participate in one on one or small group tutoring sessions during the school day or before and/or after school.
The Learning Center
Time in the Learning Center is valuable and will be treated as such. Students will report to the Learning Center during their assigned periods, and attendance will be kept each period. Students will work with the Learning Center staff to improve their skills and understanding of content from their classes.
What ESS is Not
Educational Support Services is not a special education program. All students at BCHS and in the ESS program have the ability to be successful and with the support, love and encouragement of the BCHS faculty these students CAN succeed.
