Visual & Performing Arts
Visual and Performing Arts are essential for students to receive a well-rounded education that covers the full spectrum of not only academics, but also the arts. You cannot fully understand history, literature and the role of the Bible in society without seeing their impact and influence on the arts.
In order for students to understand God's world, they have to be trained in aesthetics and in what beauty truly is and its relationship to the world around them. Then to translate that understanding into a form that allows them to create beauty and share it with other people. Without the arts, there isn't an outlet for them to do that, so it's just as important for students to produce performances and pieces of artwork as it is to view what their classmates do. So training in arts is two-fold - students need to view what the arts are and they need to produce within the arts.
Whether God has given a student artisitc talents and gifts or whether they may not be inclined that way, all students need the experience of producing in the area of the arts. BCHS provides opportunities for students to explore different levels of the arts such as vocal and instrumental music, photography, animation, advanced design concepts and various levels of theater.
BCHS' faculty in the Visual and Performing Arts Department not only love the arts and are trained to teach in the arts, but they also practice and perform in their fields of expertise. These teachers literally practice what they preach, and they teach students how to express their artistic talents in a way that honors and glorifies God.
