Performing Arts Program Highlights
Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Concert Band
- Hosts BCHS Band Night
- Participates in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Honor Festival, CMEA Band Festival, Fullerton Jazz Festival, Biola Band Festival,
- Consistently high representation at All-State Honor Band and Orchestra, and participates in Kern County Honor Band
- BCHS campus perormances include football games, chapel performances, Big Nite O' Jazz and BCHS' Colors of Christmas
- Unanimous Superior Ratings from CMEA judges
- Visits and performs at colleges, junior high and elementary schools
- Performs for community organizations
Guitar
- Performs at BCHS' Colors of Christmas
- Guitar II performs in a class recital
Choir
- Performs for feeder school assemblies
- Participates in BCHS' Colors of Christmas, chapel services, Pops Concert, Music in the Parks and at BCHS graduation
- Represented at All-State Honor Choir, Regional Honor Choir and Solo and Ensemble Festivals at CSUB
- Excellent rating at Music in the Parks 2011
Theatre
- Participates in the fall play, BCHS' Colors of Christmas, spring musical and theatre festivals at CSUB
- Feeder school performances
- Attends professional plays and musical performances in Bakersfield as well as the greater Los Angeles area
- Explores careers in performance through trips to Hearst Castle and Disney's California Adventure
- BCHS Past Productions: "The Sound of Music" in 2012, "The Importance of Being Earest" in 2011, "Cotton Patch Gospel" in 2011, "Hamlet" in 2010 and "Seussical" 2010
