The BCHS International Homestay Program allows students from other countries the opportunity to come to the United States and receive a quality, college preparatory education that equips them for acceptance into top American universities.
This year's Academic Decathlon team placed the highest ever at the annual competition finishing fifth of the 18 competing schools. The team also placed fourth in the Super Quiz portion of the competition and individuals brougth home a total of six medals. Senior Camae Kong was named the fifth top overall individual of the 143 competitiors.
The BCHS Stand Up to Cancer club is participating in the 2019 Student of the Year Campaign, a leadership development and philanthropy program developed by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The BCHS Eagle Up to Cancer project team is competing against other local high schools, but with a united purpose – to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma research.
In the midst of first semester finals week, the BCHS Associated Student Body welcomed 30 young visitors from Munsey Elementary School for an afternoon of fun, friendship and Christmas celebration.
BCHS senior Keonte Glinton will be hitting the field next year as a Wyoming Cowboy. On Dec. 19, surrounded by the support of his family, coaches, teachers and fellow students, Glinton signed his letter of intent to play football at the University of Wyoming.
Over 1.6 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. BCHS seniors Davis Hoffman, Lauryn Decker and Blair Abril were among the highest scorers in the national, each earning recoginition to varying degrees.
A heart-warming classic that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, “Anne of Green Gables” arrived to the BCHS stage the first weekend of November. The tale, centered on Anne, a young orphan girl, who was mistakenly delivered to the farm-owning Cuthbert family, and recounted her escapades in her new home as she pushed the boundaries and made mistakes.
In October, 64 students, along with 34 adults – including parents, BCHS President John Buetow, and BCHS Counselors Susan Chandler and Carissa Cady – journeyed to Texas for the second annual college tour. The group visited the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M, Baylor University and Texas Christian University.
Planning for your future and thinking about life after high school can be a bit overwhelming. BCHS alumni have been there and understand what a challenge it can be for the next generation to decide that important step. That’s how the conversation began at an Alumni Association meeting, which led to the formation of the Alumni Mentor Program.
Crowds of BCHS fans fill the stands to support the Eagles. However, not everyone can show their school spirit by attending games and other campus events. With this in mind, BCHS began livestreaming select games last year through its broadcasting class.
