The Educational Support Services Program serves to meet the needs of students who require additional classroom support. Students receive extra instructional support in one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions. Specially trained educators support and encourage students on a regular basis in their academic studies by using teaching strategies which will provide the student with the tools necessary to succeed in the classroom and ultimately in the college environment.

Requirements for Program Admission

All students seeking admissions into the ESS program must first meet the regular admissions requirements. Some students will be required to attend the ESS program as a condition of the admissions process. Students on Academic Probation may be required to attend the ESS program as a condition of their probation. Students may be referred to the ESS program at any time during the school year. There is a fee for attendance in this program.
Students receive educational support through building an ESS class period into their regular schedule. They participate in one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions where additional instruction, academic organization and learning intervention are provided.

The ESS Classroom

Time in the ESS classroom is valuable and will be treated as such. Students will report to the Learning Center during their assigned periods, and attendance will be kept each period. Students will work with the ESS staff to improve their skills and understanding of content from their classes. Grades will be provided to track students' efforts, but these grades will not appear on transcripts.

What ESS is Not

Educational Support Services is not a special education program. All students at BCHS and in the ESS program have the ability to be successful and with the support, love and encouragement of the BCHS faculty these students CAN succeed.
