Eagle University

One distinctive of BCHS is the opportunity for dual enrollment. Students can meet high school graduation requirements while earning college credits with concurrent enrollment at Concordia University – Irvine (CUI).

Though graduation credits for Eagle University courses are earned for the subject area in which they belong, they are grouped here to display the courses BCHS offers in this unique dual-credit program.

  • Writing and Research

    In this course, students read, write, share, and discuss writing in a variety of genres, and sharpen their ability to use research strategies and presentation methods appropriately. Class meetings are dedicated to discussing the readings and practicing writing techniques. The class will discuss the choices the writer made to achieve the effect he or she desired – choices of organization, voice, tone, diction, metaphor, imagery, persuasive techniques, openings and closings, etc. In addition, Standard English conventions are reviewed and are expected to be accurately applied to student writing.
    Prerequisite: B or better in prior English course and teacher recommendation.
    Eligibility: 11th-12th grades

  • Public Speaking

    ​Public Speaking is an introductory course designed to teach speech preparation, delivery and evaluation. In-class exercises included informative and persuasive speaking experiences.
    Prerequisite: B or better in prior English course and teacher recommendation.
    Eligibility: 11th-12th grades
