BVarsity selects 5 BCHS Spring Sport Athletes among the best in the Area

BVarsity's All-Area selections have been released with several Eagles appearing in the lineup for their outstanding play throughout the spring season including Boys Tennis Player of the Year — Erik Buetow. With a record of 29-2 this season, Buetow, a BCHS junior, finished second in the Central Section singles tournament in May and helped lead the Eagles to the D-I team quarterfinals.
All-Area First Team honors include Kayden Smith (softball), Nathan Roodzant and Jared Vegas (swimming and diving), and Lukas Grimberg (boys tennis). Smith, a BCHS freshman, led the Eagles to the D-VI title with a 1.12 ERA and 140 strikeouts. She also batted .600 with seven home runs and 35 RBIs. The Central Section D-II champion in the 100 backstroke, Roodzant placed 36th at state in the event. He also finished second during the D-II finals in the 100 butterfly and 200 medley relay. Vegas holds the school record in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. He finished third during the D-II finals in the 50 free. Grimberg, a native of Germany, is a two-time first-team selection who advanced to the section individual semifinals, finishing third overall.

  • Honorable Mention: James Ekberg and Jonah Monsibais

Girls Swimming & Diving

  • 2nd Team: Elizabeth Rehkopf and Kelly Washburn
  • Honorable Mention: Lauryn Reeves, Alison Reeves and Liberty Roche
