Athletics

Athletics at BCHS is a vital part of the life of our school. Almost two-thirds of our student body will compete in athletics this year. One distinctive that sets athletics at BCHS apart from other high schools is the fact that we believe Jesus Christ is the foundation on which we build our teams. The intensity and the investment used in athletics is an intimate platform which leads to discovery of who we are as an individuals and who we are in relationship to Christ. We believe the athletic field is an extension and complement to the classroom.

Another distincion at BCHS is that we ask our athletes to compete to the best of their abilities. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 9:24, calls us to run the course to win and that is what we strive for at BCHS. Winning at all cost, however, is not the goal. Our goal is to hire coaches who are role models, who teach fair play and strive to instill Christian values in all aspects of their walk.

As we continue to instill traditions at BCHS and combine the factors from the CHRIST acronym, we learn what it means to prepare in a way to win the race, to finish the course. The journey that ensues in life in a way that is meaningful, and finally, how to strive to be what it is that Jesus has called and created us to be.
